End of Sava-Mahino

It is the end of my one and a quarter month known as sava-mahino to my guarati family. In a similar way to Lễ đầy tháng it is now safe for Mom and Me to leave home and be presented to friends and family.

It is custom to go to the temple on this day to receive a blessing, we are really lucky that the Sri Srinivasa Perumal Temple is a less than 5 minutes from our condo and we can see it from our living room window. So all four grandos, Mom, Dad, Nam & Me walked there early this morning

On the way to the temple
At the temple I was presented to the priests for blessings and then I was given a private prayer of my own. Dad put be down in front of everyone on my own, I was not scared and lay down until Ba and Mom came to get me.

After that everyone did some prayers and looked at the different deities, Ba & Dada got some prasad (blessed food) for us all.

It was an exciting morning and we were all tired when we got home so after lunch we all had a nap.

1 Month Birthday - Lễ đầy tháng

Hello everyone.

I'm 1 Month old today
It's my one month birthday today!!!!! in Vietnam it is known as Lễ đầy tháng and is a very special day. Mom said that in the past today would be the day that I would be named, this would also be the first day Mom and me would be allowed to go out and  accept visitors after I was born without fear of spirits trying to steal my soul.

Now things are different but Mom still held special ceremony for me. Mom offered the spirits (Mụ bà) that would guide me as a baby some offerings (rice pudding, tea and wine). Mom says that the spirits have been teaching me how to smile and when I cry at night this is the spirits punishing me when I don't listen to them (I don't cry a lot so I must have been a good boy).

Offering to the spirits

Later I got some gifts from Mom, Dad, Ba & Dada and we cut my cake, everyone had a slice except for me I had to stick to just milk.

Chatti

After a really busy night (a lot of 1 & 3 from my last post) I went back to hospital for my first followup with the doc pediatrician. She said everything is great and I've put on a bit of weight since I left hospital. Mom and Dad were happy about that, I was more interested in my orange top:

Today Ba and Dada prepared for my Chatti (sixth day) ceremony, the sixth day of life is an important day in our culture and the ritual that Ba performed should help me have a great future.

They also gave me a pair of bracelets as gifts, just like Dada I had some bling on my wrists.
